I happen to think that if Darwyn hadn't had interceded that Salim could have not done the dirty bomb. I think he was in that place of wavering in his belief in the extremist movement. Anyone else think so?

no way. he had already killed the fireworks guy and once the FBI raided the hospital there was no going back anyway. not to mention he rigged the cooler with a pressure switch to go off if he dropped it.

he was already way past the point of return

Salim was commited to the mission - and he seemed happy to have someone there with him at the end. Perhaps Salim thought that God would forgive both of them for their sins.
